Why we built Discover
Kannect is a community engagement platform built for organizations that exist to serve people, not platforms. We believe every community deserves a professional digital home — without paying Facebook's algorithm to reach their own members.
The story
Kannect started because community organizations were being squeezed. Meetup raised prices and chased growth metrics. Eventbrite commoditized events into a marketplace. Facebook built a surveillance engine and called it community. Meanwhile, chambers, nonprofits, alumni groups, and faith communities were paying more for less — and losing ownership of their own audiences in the process.
In 2025, Bending Spoons acquired both Meetup and Eventbrite. The independent platform era for community organizations effectively ended. We saw the writing on the wall.
